            Cons

Toenail Fungus Treatment by FixaFungus is our product under the spotlight today. As the name suggests, you’d consider buying it if you have toenail fungus or Onychomycosi. A surprisingly large portion of the population – more than 10% – suffers from toenail infections, and it is more common in older people and people with immune-compromised systems. Most commonly it is linked to candida albicans, the feisty fungus also responsible for yeast infections and wheat intolerance. It is also linked to the fungi that cause athlete’s foot, which often move from between the toes to under the nail bed. This is hardly surprising as these fungi love dark, moist conditions.

Toenail fungus can be difficult to treat as you not only have to address the symptoms but kill the fungus itself. Often, in addition to external treatments, you should look at diets affecting gut health as this is key to creating a hostile environment for fungus and bacteria to reassert their presence in the body.

How do you know if you have a toenail fungus? Your toenails may be itchy, sensitive to touch and painful, discolored (yellow or green), brittle or extremely hard. Any deviation from the norm is highly likely to be infection-oriented.

Toenail Fungus comprises a two-step programme of a pre-treatment (keratrate) followed by the broad-spectrum antifungal treatment.

What’s In FixaFungus Toenail Fungus Treatment?

            • Keratrate – comprised of keratinase enzyme and a powerful reducing agent. This softens the keratin, from which the nail is made. It allows the antifungal to penetrate right down to the nail bed, nail root and soft tissue below where the fungus has made a home.
            • A proprietary broad-spectrum antifungal blend consisting of Manuka oil, red thyme oil, oil of oregano, Foraha/Tamanu oil, turpentine, castor oil, Melaleuca oil, clove tree, eucalyptus and garlic. These ingredients work individually and synergistically to kill both the fungus and secondary bacterial infections

How Do You Use FixaFungus Toenail Fungus Treatment?

The first part consists of a pre-treatment. You have to mix the activator solution and get it to pump out a small solution onto a brush, which you then apply to your clean nail and not the surrounding tissue. To do this, pull out inner chamber, twist off the top and remove the plastic spring insert. Don’t remove the powder or steel ball. Now fill the inner chamber with the activator solution. Replace the spring insert, top and place the inner chamber back into the applicator sleeve. Shake hard for 4 to 5 minutes until everything is mixed through. Now twist the applicator top cap, position the brush side down and press the white portion of the inner chamber in pumping action until the lotion dispenses into brush. Paint the lotion directly onto the nail only, put the cap back on, refrigerate the lotion and leave the nail to dry for 10 minutes. This pre-treatment will expire in 4 weeks after opening.

To apply the antifungal treatment, remove the applicator cap, tilt the brush side down and press the bottom of the container in a pumping action until the lotion oozes out onto the brush. You may need to pump several times at first.

Initially, you need to apply both the pre- and actual treatment (antifungal) twice a day. You can then do so once a day, preferably at night after you have washed or bathed so that it stays on for at least 6 hours.

You may use the product if you are pregnant, and sparingly on children, but not babies under 2. If you’re using other medications as well, there shouldn’t be an issue but consult your doctor.

            The Cost

The Conclusion Of Our FixaFungus Toenail Fungus Treatment Review

We like the pre-treatment step as so many fungal treatments may not be able to penetrate right down to where the fungus is. The formulation is a broad-spectrum mix of powerful antifungals and antibacterial agents. The inclusion of castor oil means Toenail Fungus Treatment must contain Undecylenic Acid, which is so necessary for breaking the cycle of fungal regrowth. However, we would have liked to know how much is present. A stronger than 20% presence of this acid would be optimal.

Our only real reservations in unconditionally recommending Toenail Fungus Treatment is that it is almost prohibitively expensive. FixaFungus does not say how long this will last but it is likely to be one month. We know from research that fungal infections of the toe are hard to break in under 3 or 6 months, so cost is a factor. The other is the complex application process. If you can’t follow the instructions properly, you may end up not getting the dispensed pre-treatment to function properly in the first place, and this would render the purchase pretty much ineffective. If you’re not a DIY person, consider something similar but that is ready assembled and easy to use.
