            Pros

            Cons

This is a review for Blue Star Ointment, a topical product that claims to promote relief from the symptoms of ringworm. The infection of the skin known as ringworm is a common condition that is in actual fact not caused by a worm at all. Instead, this circular rash could be caused by three different strains of fungi namely; Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton. Unfortunately, this infection is highly contagious and can be spread from the initial infected area to other parts of the body and even to other people. As such, those suffering from ringworm try their best to get rid of the infection as soon as possible by using medications, tonics, ointments, and creams.

            What’s in Blue Star Ointment?

This product’s only active ingredient is camphor, an ingredient that was originally made from the bark of the camphor tree. Today many manufacturers can recreate camphor in laboratories. Camphor has long been used to assist with conditions such as itching and irritation.

Other inactive ingredients in Blue Star Ointment include; benzoic acid, lanolin oil, methyl salicylate, mineral oil, paraffin wax, petrolatum, salicylic acid and aloe oil extract. As it is uncertain, how much of each inactive ingredient is present in this ointment, we could not determine the safety of use.

How Do You Use Blue Star Ointment?

According to the direction of use on the product label, you should use this ointment three times daily on the affected areas. After thoroughly washing the area, towel dry and apply a layer of the product. However, it is advised that if the condition persists after than four weeks, medical attention should be sought out. If you have sensitive skin, it is recommended that you dilute this ointment with petroleum jelly.

            The Cost

At present time you are unable to purchase this product directly from the manufacturer’s website and have to buy it from one of the listed stores that carry Blue Star Ointment. These include Walmart and Amazon. However, a few of the listed retailers no longer carried this product. We did find this product on Amazon for $29.99 for 2 packs.

            Is There a Guarantee?

While the manufacturer’s website does advertise a 100% money back, satisfaction guarantee – it is uncertain if this would apply as the product must be purchased from affiliate sites and stores. We also found no evident customer reviews.

The Conclusion of Our Blue Star Ointment Review

To wrap up this review for Blue Star Ointment, we thought that the main ingredient in this ringworm product, camphor, was a great addition as it has been successfully used to help soothe itching and burning. We also appreciated the specific direction of use that was available. But ultimately we had some concerns. Firstly, this product did not provide any information on the long list of its inactive ingredients, which were mostly chemical. We also found that because you are unable to buy the product from the manufacturer’s website, it is unclear if their returns policy and guarantee would still apply to purchases on other sites and from other stores.
