            Pros

            Cons

Today we review Optimum Nutrition CoQ10.  This nutrient has been shown to help improve your heart function and hep your body create energy from ATP.  These capsules provide CoQ10 to help you recuperate faster after a workout.

            What’s in Optimum Nutrition CoQ10?

This supplement contains only 100 mg of Coenzyme Q10 per softgel with no additional ingredients.  Through our extensive research, we know that clinical studies have shown that 250 mg of CoQ10 is the best and most effective dose of this nutrient.  In addition, these supplements should also have BioPerine, or black pepper extract, which will help the body with absorption. Seeing as this product lacks BioPerine and does not have the clinically studied amount of the nutrient shows us that this supplement will not be as effective as some of its competitors.

How Do You Use Optimum Nutrition CoQ10?

The only usage instructions offered on the manufacturer’s website is that this should be taken after meals.  It is not stated, however, how many softgels should be taken each dose, nor how many doses you should take in a day.  This is worrisome because it is not clear enough how to use this supplement to see the best results.

            The Cost

Each bottle contains 150 softgels, which, if taken one time per day, will last for 5 months.  The bottles cost $31.99 each. Unfortunately, without proper dosing instructions, we are unable to determine exactly how long each bottle will last, and therefore we cannot determine if the purchase price of this product is cheaper or more expensive than other similar capsules.

            Is There a Guarantee?

There is no guarantee listed on the manufacturer’s website, but they do have a return policy which is rather strict.  Should you decide to return your product, it must have been purchased through the manufacturer’s website directly, and the return needs to be received by the company within 30 days of the original purchase.  Also, the product must be returned with at least 75%, or 113 softgels left in the bottle. This return policy makes it extremely difficult to give the supplement a trial to see how well, or not well, it will work.

The Conclusion of Our Optimum Nutrition CoQ10 Review

There are a few things we liked about Optimum Nutrition CoQ10.  If the usage directions state that you only take one softgel per day, then the price of this supplement is much lower than other similar products.  Also, the website states that this softgel is unflavored, which will make it easier to take.

Unfortunately, there are many things that caused concern for us regarding this supplement.  First off, the ingredient list is not up to doctor recommended standards. There is less than half of the clinically studied amount of CoQ10 per softgel, and there is also no BioPerine to help absorption.  Next, the usage instructions were very incomplete. It left us completely unsure how to actually use this product for maximum results. Lastly, the return policy offered by the manufacturer is extremely strict, making it extremely difficult to give this supplement a trial before deciding it is not for you.  For these reasons, we cannot recommend this product to help with your cardiovascular health.
