            Pros

            Cons

Today’s review examines Anxiety Balance. It is a herbal anti-anxiety supplement from Priority One. Its stated aims are to regulate natural sleep-wake cycles, regulate mood volatility and to promote a sense of calm wholeness and wellbeing.

The manufacturer has derived its branded ingredient, Cyracos, from lemon balm. Lemon balm has been used since ancient times to decrease angst and promote better duration and quality of sleep.

It is estimated that 18% of Americans are afflicted with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). The disorder, as the name suggests, can be general or take specific forms such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Panic Disorder, among others. Often, persistent and intense worry can be so debilitating that it is overwhelming. A lack of concentration, lack of appetite, nervousness and erratic moods are some of the symptoms. Insomnia and gastrointestinal problems at large are also manifestations of angst.

            What’s In Anxiety Balance?

            Here are the ingredients:

            • Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) 100mg
            • Griffonia simplicifolia (seed) (L-5-Hydroxytryptophan 98%) 75mg
            • Hops (strobilies) (extract 4:1) (Humulus lupulus) 13mg
            • Inositol
            • Jujube (seed) (Ziziphus jujuba) (standardized extract 2% jujubosides) 50mg
            • Lemon Balm (leaf) Cyracos Extract (Melissa officinalis) 80mg
            • L-Glutamic Acid 25mg
            • Magnesium (as rice chelate/citrate/oxide) 5mg
            • Niacin (as niacinamide) 25mg
            • Passionflower, Blue (whole herb) (extract 4:1) (Passiflora caerulea) 7mg
            • Rhodiola rosea (rhizome) (standardized extract 4% rosavins) 50mg
            • Thiamine HCL (vitamin B1 ) 25mg

This formulation relies on naturally occurring chemicals and amino acids to restore calm to the nervous system and promote good quality sleep. Good wet-to-dry ratios have been used, meaning the goodness of the ingredients have not been filtered out, so they should have an impact. Let us look at a few of the stand-out ingredients.

Passion flower is used to instill calm and is a well-known aid to GAD. It also helps with sleep and gastrointestinal issues. Vitamin B3, or niacin, boosts brain function and clear thinking, while lemon balm and hops are known anti-anxiety agents. Jujube is used for its uplifting properties and also fights insomnia. L-glutamic acid protects the brain from toxins and promotes brain function and memory, so is a good complement to niacin. GABA also has serious brain-boosting, anti-angst potency.

The ingredient list is good but notably missing is L-theanine, a neurotransmitter which plays a big role in uplifting mood. The thing we see as slightly problematic is combining all the feel-good herbs and sleep-inducing ones into one formulation. Ideally there should be two, so that the sleep component can be used at night.

How Do You Use Anxiety Balance?

Use one capsule a day but up to two are allowed. We would advise you not to take this with other stimulants, or other sleep-inducing aids. If you are taking chronic medicine, beware of unwanted interactions and speak to your doctor first. Those who are pregnant or nursing should get medical clearance first, and do not give this to children.

Also note that an overdose of lemon balm can in fact induce anxiety.

            The Cost

A bottle of 45 capsules retails for $37.98 on the website and about $2 less on Amazon.

A promotional video on the website advertises a buy-3-get-one-free promotion. The cost of this supplement is rather high.

            Is There A Guarantee?

Our research did not uncover any evidence of a guarantee, which was strange.

The Conclusion of Our Priority One Anxiety Balance Review

The manufacturer has used transparent labelling and clearly adhered to high manufacturing quality standards. The product is all-natural and GMO-free. The formulation is sound and probably works well for those experiencing moderate GAD symptoms.

We are not sure that one formulation can successfully treat both day and night symptoms, and there were a few key ingredients we thought were missing. Priority One also does not state how long the product takes to work. However, some consumers report feel better immediately. Although the product is expensive, consumer feedback is above average. If you are looking to try a risk-free product though, this is not for you as a refund policy appears not to be in place.
